Sharon Kalinko

Sharon is a core member of ecl South Africa which is dedicated to bring powerful, fresh approaches to the education and care in its many different forms. She has been a practicing psychotherapist for over 33 years, specialising in relationship and trauma counselling as well as communications training. Originally trained as a secondary teacher, she has a particular interest in the wellbeing and development of people (young and old) and the organisations that support them. Creatively she seeks to bring the best of therapeutic models to strengthen – and who knows even transform – the pastoral aspects of the education system which is a pressing need in South Africa.

As counsellor, coach and workshop facilitator, her goal through ecl is to assist people to become fully functional in both their work and relationships – in short ‘to be the best that they can be’. A current project involves working with boys from informal settlements around Johannesburg developing skills to be more sensitive to their own needs and to the needs of others, and more collaborative in their outlook. She is systemically orientated and works with personal, family and organisational constellations.

Sharon is a certified Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analyst (TA), working creatively to apply the concepts to organisational and counselling applications. She is an Integrative Psychotherapist, life coach and workshop presenter, Sharon is also a co- director of the Egoli Institute training people in the integrative school of psychology.

Sharon has a real passion for bringing ideas from other fields to enhance our approaches to wellbeing and learning in eduation. She is currently working on developing techniques that can usefully integrate the disciplines of TA, Colour therapy and Enneagrams into child and leadership development in school and community group settings.
